Third Annual Cedar Ridge Bourbon & Blues Festival July 6-8

Swisher, IA- Cedar Ridge is happy to announce the second installment of its Summer Concert Series.  Starting with the release of Iowa’s first Bourbon in July of 2010, the Bourbon & Blues Festival is a tradition of music, BBQ food and locally made products.  Iowa’s own Cedar Ridge Bourbon was awarded a Gold Medal and given a score of 91 from the Beverage Tasting Institute in Chicago, with an “Exceptional” rating.  This score was among the very highest ratings given in the entire whiskey category and the highest score provided to an Iowa whiskey.

Cedar Ridge will be offering $2 off all bottles of Iowa Bourbon all weekend, scheduled tours of the distillery and winery and an Iowa Bourbon tasting station in addition to complimentary wine and spirit tastings.

Music will be performed on the main stage in front of the LaCrosse vineyard- complete with professional lighting and sound.  The following is the lineup:

FRIDAY  from 6-9pm-  FUNK STOP.  An eleven piece band featuring music in the funk, R&B and soul styles.  They are comprised of professional local music educators whose high impact show features soulful lyrics and is backed by the hottest horn and rhythm section around!  $5 admission starting at five.

SATURDAY from 1-4pm- BF BURT.   Kevin is a self-taught musician (vocals, harmonica, and guitar) whose smooth, warm vocal style sets a mood of relaxed exhilaration.  His soul-inspired presentation is unique which consistently gets him compared to a range of artists like Bill Withers and Aaron Nevill, with the ability to build an audience rapport that has been compared to B.B. King.  $10 admission Saturday.

 SATURDAY from 5-7pm- INDIGENOUS.    The weekend headliner!   Originally from Marty South Dakota, Mato Nangi grew up a member of The Nakota Nation.  The new CD Indigenous-featuring Mato Nanji with very special guest Jonny Lang was released on the Blues Bureau International label in May 2012.     Mato Nangi’s Indigenous blues rock is heavily influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana.  $10 admission Saturday.

SUNDAY from 3-6pm- FUNKDADDIESFunkDaddies is a funk band playing horn-driven soul and R&B, and is based in Iowa City, Iowa.  They feature their own original style of funk, as well as classic hits by Marvin Gaye, The Commodores, Stevie Wonder, Jeffrey Osborne, James Brown and Tower of Power.  $10 admission starting at one.

 

Hog roast by Ruzicka’s available all weekend as well as Cedar Ridge wood-fired pizzas.
