Swisher, IA – August 5, 2015, Cedar Ridge announces a very important milestone. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 marks the 10-year anniversary of the first licensed distillery in Iowa since Prohibition. Jeff Quint, Founder and Proprietor commented “When we opened Cedar Ridge in the back of Benz Beverage Depot in downtown Cedar Rapids back in 2005, there was no such thing as a ‘craft distillery’. We were the first to try it in Iowa, and among the first in the entire country. We had no idea it would develop like it has.” Cedar Ridge has since relocated to its vineyard property in rural Swisher, where it has undergone numerous expansions.
In celebration, Cedar Ridge will be releasing the first hand-selected cask of the new Silver Label Single Malt Whiskey they have been aging for this very special occasion. “We have nearly a thousand barrels of spirits on our property. After much deliberation from our team, we’ve chosen the one barrel we’re most proud of to release for our anniversary celebration. This is a pure malted barley product that spent time in two different casks, most recently with toasted cherry wood. It is, in our opinion, the very best barrel we can offer” added Quint.
The new Silver Label Single Malt will be available for pre-sale on the Cedar Ridge website, www.crwine.com beginning Wednesday, August 12, 2015 and available for pick-up and purchase on-site at Cedar Ridge beginning Wednesday, August 26, 2015 while supply lasts. One barrel yields approximately 360 bottles.
Join Cedar Ridge in celebration the week of August 26, 2015 for on-site food specials, live music, tastings and tours guided by Quint, himself. An off-site tasting event will be held at Benz Saturday, August 29th from 11-1, followed by an anniversary party at TCR from 5-8 featuring a Cedar Ridge cocktail menu, drink specials and complimentary hors d’ oeuvres.
Nestled in the beautiful Iowa countryside just off Exit 10 on I-380, Cedar Ridge brings you the first licensed distillery in Iowa since Prohibition. Award-winning wines and internationally recognized spirits are created (crafted?) on site at the area’s only winery & distillery.
